In an AI-driven era of relentless disruption and well-funded upstarts, the 2026 MSP 501 shows how companies with decades of experience can still succeed.
The part of the MSP 501 list we publish today – Nos. 101 to 200 – includes at least a handful of MSPs that have been around since the 20th century. And they’re more than holding their own – they’re adopting and thriving.
“This is our 35th year in business, and one of the most important things for us is to disallow anybody in our company from saying we've always done it this way,” said Harold Mann, president of No. 191 Mann Consulting. “But it's also really important to not suffer from shiny object syndrome. AI is super shiny, but we say ‘Just because you can doesn't mean you should.’”
San Francisco-based Mann Consulting is a tech company in the most prominent tech region of the world, yet Mann doesn’t attribute success to technology.
“The things that have enabled us to do well have actually been pretty low tech, like just making sure that we are listening to customers when they are interacting with us. We make sure to remember the quiet killer is just doing an average job,” he said. “Everybody's so focused in our industry on automatically closing tickets, but if you have an opportunity to delight a customer, even with something as seemingly mundane as a tech support ticket, that's how you build those relationships.”
No. 118 FIT Technologies started in 1999. FIT CEO Adam Tubbs agrees that customer relationships make an MSP stand out more than mastering the latest technology. He said the Cleveland-based FIT is successful largely because of its relationships, operational discipline, security-first mindset and a strong team and culture.
“For me, it’s about creating an environment where our team can thrive, our clients feel supported, and our partners see us as an extension of their business,” Tubbs said. “That’s what makes this work meaningful. Historically, I’d say our willingness to evolve has been just as important as anything else. The MSPs that stand still don’t last long in this industry.”
Tubbs said there’s a misconception “That all MSPs are the same. [But] There is a meaningful difference between reactive support providers and firms that are proactive, strategic, and accountable.”
No. 184 WCA Technologies started in 1988, and has retained most of its original customers. President and founder Peter Fidler also said the secret of New York-based WCA’s success involves more than just technology.
“The landscape is changing quickly—technology alone is no longer a differentiator,” he said. “Companies need to deepen their vertical expertise and become embedded in their clients’ operations, all while improving efficiency, listening closely, and consistently delivering excellent service."
