MSP 501 Spotlight: No.172 Tekie Geek

(This is part of a series of stories highlighting 2026 MSP 501 winners).

The first thing you notice when visiting Tekie Geek’s web site is its superhero motif. The managed service provider’s site is filled with comic book images. Its services are labeled “superpowers” and its executives are “Geekvengers,” each with a unique superhero name. Tekie Geeks are described as “superheroes of cybersecurity” on the site.

“From early on, we leaned into our IT superheroes branding because it really fit how we wanted to show up for our clients,” said CEO Mike Bloomfield, who started Tekie Geek in 2013. “It is fun, but it is also who we are. Our team takes ownership, moves with urgency, and understands that when a client has an issue, their business may be depending on us to get it right.”

In its 13-year history, Tekie Geek has expanded from its Staten Island, NY roots into a full-service managed IT and cybersecurity provider also serving businesses across New Jersey, New York City, and beyond. Tekie Geek ranked No. 172 on the 2026 MSP 501 list.

“I wanted to build a company that delivered strong IT and cybersecurity, but in a way that felt personal and human,” Bloomfield said. “From the beginning, the goal was not just to fix computers. It was to protect businesses, support their growth, and become part of their team. That is where the IT superhero culture came from. We wanted our clients to know that when something went wrong, we were going to show up, take ownership, and care about the outcome.”

But don’t let the comic book branding fool you. Tekie Geek’s technology is mature and serious. Its managed IT and co-managed IT superpowers include business continuity, unified communications and cloud computing – with a strong focus on keeping customers safe.

“We have continued to mature our security stack, improve our processes, and focus more and more on proactive service,” Bloomfield said. “Businesses are facing more cyber risk, more compliance pressure, and more technology complexity than ever before. We have worked hard to stay ahead of that by building a strong cybersecurity-first approach around endpoint protection, zero trust, email security, backup, Microsoft 365 hardening, risk assessments, and ongoing technology alignment.”

Mike Bloomfield

Bloomfield said in the past year cybersecurity became less about IT than about business survival. And he expects that to continue, particularly around Microsoft 365 security.

“Historically, I think we have grown because we never tried to be just another MSP,” he said. “We have always tried to bring personality, trust, creativity, and real service into what we do. The technology matters, of course, but the relationship matters just as much. For our culture, we have built a team that cares. We do not want people who just close tickets. We want people who take ownership, communicate well, and understand that every technical issue is really a business issue for the person on the other side.”

Naturally, AI also plays a major role in Tekie Geek’s business. Bloomfield said clients are using AI whether their leaders know it or not, and that creates both risk and opportunity for MSPs.

“Businesses need guidance on how to use AI safely and effectively,” he said. “That includes internal policies, data protection, workflow automation, employee training, and practical use cases that actually help the business. We also see a lot of opportunity around compliance and risk management. More businesses are being asked to prove that they have the right controls in place, whether that is for cyber insurance, vendor requirements, government contracts, or industry regulations.”

As for the rest of the year, Bloomfield says: “Our outlook for 2026 is very positive. Businesses are going to continue looking for MSPs that can bring together support, security, strategy, and innovation. For Tekie Geek, the focus is to keep maturing, keep growing the right way, and keep delivering a level of service that makes our clients feel protected and supported.”
