(This is part of a series of stories highlighting 2026 MSP 501 companies)
Compared to other MSP 501 companies, Alykas can be considered a newcomer. The Houston-based MSP ranked No. 27 on the 2026 MSP 501 in its first full year of operation. But its CEO Faisal Bhutto doesn’t consider Alykas a startup because it’s the third time around for its founding team.
Alykas – the name comes from the Finnish word for “intelligent” – had decades of channel experience behind it from the beginning. It was started by the team that founded ENETsolutions in 2002 selling hosted voice before that became known as UCaaS. A private equity firm bought ENET in 2014, and it became part of Computex Technology Solutions. Computex sold managed services with expanded cybersecurity capability and an in-house security operations center (SOC). Bhutto left Computex in 2021 after it was acquired.
“As an entrepreneur, you're always looking for the next problem to solve,” he said. “We call this company our version 3.0. After version 2.0's success, I took a bit of a break and then wanted to launch something suited to the current moment — hence the name Alykas, ‘intelligence.’ We're building on the foundation of a mature managed services business. People sometimes assume we're a startup, but we're not. We're just a better version of what we were two decades ago.”
Bhutto selected the word for “intelligent” because we’re in the age of artificial intelligence, but it goes beyond that.
“It reflects what we've always been in the business of: helping customers deploy intelligent solutions,” he said. “AI is just a tool now that helps us do that faster, better, and hopefully cheaper. That last part is still to be seen.”

Based in Texas, Alykas lists energy as a top vertical, and also sells tailored services for manufacturing, healthcare, financial services, engineering and retail. It focuses on midrange companies with between 1,000 and 5,000 employees and revenue from $50 million into the billions. “Those are companies that aren't large enterprises with everything already figured out, that are on a growth path and need an expert strategic partner.
“Our vision is to bring enterprise-grade solutions to the middle market, which we believe is still underserved. We partner with major players like Cisco and Microsoft because those solutions are sometimes out of reach for mid-market customers directly, and we've had success delivering them as managed services.”
Alykas is a full-service MDR provider with an in-house SOC to handle threat detection, response, recovery, tabletop exercises, governance, compliance and penetration testing.
“Clients really value that they can come to us for the whole cybersecurity need, knowing security isn't an afterthought but built in from the ground up,” Bhutto said.
Looking ahead, Bhutto sees MSP M&A accelerating over the next five to seven years and he intends to become an acquirer.
“We're building Alykas as a platform company,” he said. “Not everyone will survive this cycle. Some will look to sell into a larger customer base, and companies like us will look to make tuck-in acquisitions — and, if it makes sense down the road, bring in a capital partner to pursue inorganic growth more aggressively.”
