In this CPTV interview, I spoke with industry veteran Chance Weaver about why he came out of “semi-retirement” to join Pax8 as VP of AI Adoption, Americas.

“I was going to ride off into the sunset,” Weaver said. But that was before Pax8 CEO Nick Heddy and EVP of the Americas Lane Brannan offered him a role “helping partners, in a place where a lot of partners are struggling.”

That would be building a business out of AI. “My job is to help MSPs help partners sell implement and monetize AI,” Weaver said.

Weaver will also speak as part of Monday’s MSP Summit Club 501 Workshop: Build, Monetize, and Scale Your AI Practice. The workshop will teach MSPs how to build and package AI-powered services, identify high-impact client use cases, and walk away with an AI roadmap.

Pax8 is concentrating on helping MSPs sell AI with The Agentic Inflection Point report and Data and AI Guide Growth program designed to help turn MSPs into MIPs – Managed Intelligence Providers.

“At Pax8, we’re building an agent store,” Weaver said, although he admits automation or business intelligence in some cases could be “a path to get you to an AI type of solution in the future.

“You need to have conversations with your customers to find out what the pain points are in their business.”

Although Weaver has been at Pax8 only since May, he is no stranger to the MSP world. He was awarded a MSP 501 Lifetime Achievement Awardat the 2023 MSP Summit when he was VP of Global Microsoft Practice for New Charter. He founded MSP IT Responsive in 2006 and sold it to New Charter 15 years later. Weaver has also been an MSP investor.

When he joined Pax8, Weaver described himself as a "passionate" technology enthusiast with a "ton of experience" to help MSPs design, implement, and profit from AI technology solutions.
