CPTV: Impossible Cloud Challenges Hyperscalers with Object Storage for AI Data

If you’re a partner looking for low-cost, high-performance S3-compatible object storage, Impossible Cloud would love to meet you at Channel Partners Conference April 13-16 at Las Vegas. The German-based cloud provider is built for MSPs, VARs, tech advisors and anyone else selling through the channel.

Impossible Cloud partners with ISVs such as Veeam, Acronis, MSP 360 and others built for channel-first sales. It provides tried-and-true use cases such as data backup, disaster recovery and archiving and is seeing new use cases, Impossible Cloud CTO Thomas Demoor told me in this CPTV interview.

One new use case over the past few years is ransomware. An even newer use case is storage for AI-focused data.

“Before it hits the GPUs, data has to come from somewhere, and S3 systems is where that data lives,” Demoor said.

Any cloud storage provider is in for heavy competition, particularly from the big three hyperscalers AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure. I asked Demoor how Impossible Cloud competes with those giants.

“We offer high performance, just like that you get from the hyperscalers, but we don't give you the lock in,” he said. “We don't have any egress fees. There are no added charges. You get the performance that you're used to from the hyperscaler. And we combine that with the necessary security needed for enterprise storage, and immutability, object lock for ransomware protection. And of course, full S3-compatibility, so that you can as a as a user, you can easily swap over from any existing vendor you would be using today.”
